Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.
On Base Housing ( Rent On-Base )
You can contact the housing office at 318-456-4791. Please keep in mind that there is a process involved in renting on Base housing to include wait times.

Barksdale Air Force Base is home to the 2nd Bomb Wing which trains all Air Force Global Strike Command and Air Force Reserve Command B-52 crews. Barksdale is located near Bossier City, Louisiana and employs over 15,000 active duty military personnel. On-post housing is available with over 700 housing units for military personnel. Many new houses were constructed in 1998 and offer large two-story family homes. If families prefer to live off-post, both rental homes and apartments can be found but there may be a waiting period. More information can be found at the military housing office including BAH rates for each soldier. Temporary lodging for those on the waiting list can be found in the nearby communities as many hotels and motels offer extended stay visits. Barksdale’s housing office is located in Building 3433 on Montgolfier Boulevard or by calling #456-4703.
The nearest school district to the base is the Shreveport-Bossier City school district which has 17 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 6 high schools for students from K-12. Higher education facilities are also available and include Louisiana Tech University, Southern Illinois University and Northwestern University. Barksdale Air Force Base has an on-post educational facility offering continuing education classes. For more information, call #456-2615. Barksdale Air Force Base offers many religious services to please any denominational choice. Chaplains are on-post to assist families with counseling needs for premarital classes as well as specific worship services throughout the base. Barksdale is home to a BX, commissary and a shoppette as well as several fast-food establishments. Many historical sites abound in the Shreveport area as well as tours of the nearby swamps and native wildlife. Upon arrival in the area, the Shreveport Regional Airport services surrounding areas near Barksdale Air Force Base.
